January 17, 2018

My highlight for this week has been our investigator Lucie. Watching her testimony grow has been a super rad experience for sure. She speaks barely any spanish, is due with twins next month, but she is there every single sunday and relief society lessons. We will be teaching her (with a translator), and someone will walk in start asking questions and she will just shut them down with the strongest testimony in a language i cant even understand, but the spirit is so strong. Our relief society threw a baby shower for her this weekend, and it was one of the most fun church activitys ive ever been to. My ward is super involved in with the missionaries and their investigators which is new to me because no offense, I dreaded whenever the missionaries came over for dinner.

I think a common trend with our investigators is that most of them feel as if they arent worthy enough to be baptized so they push their baptismal dates out super far. But I feel so different. I know that Godwants us in the messiest parts of our lives. He is always knocking at our door, and when we let Him in, we put Him in the cleanest part of our house. We dont want Him to see the kids toys scattered everywhere, or the pasta on the stov. Then we go to run errands, drop the kids off at soccer practice, etc. Then we come home late at night, worship at His feet for a few minutes and promise Him you will try harder tomorrow. But the thing is, Jesus Christ knows how to clean the pasta off the stove, can help you with your errands. He knows how because He has been through all of that. He has been lower than all of that. He is not waiting for us to be perfect. Perfect people dont need a Savior. He came to save people in their imperfections. He wants us in our brokenness, in our unhappiness, in our guilt and our grief. This world can be a really dark place and we need His light to give us strength. His light can heal wounds that we once thought could never again be healed. We need Him and He is ready to come to us, if we will open the door and let Him.

I dont have any funny stories from this week so enjoy this joke from one of our dear elders. "Whats brown and ryhmes with Snoop... Dr. Dre" I still dont really get it...
